Alyaksandr Lukashenka<\/b>, during a visit to the Horizont plant, spoke about how he had warned Vladimir Putin<\/b> about assassination threats.<\/p>\n

According to Lukashenka, it was he who dissuaded Putin from traveling to the BRICS summit in South Africa in August 2023, when the Russian president was already packing his bags.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast night I thought about something\u2026 I recalled a conversation with Putin. If I\u2019m not mistaken, it was before BRICS in South Africa. He\u2019s packing his bags. I say: \u2018Where are you going?\u2019 \u2014 \u2018What do you mean, don\u2019t you know? We have BRICS.\u2019 I say: \u2018Are you really going to fly there?\u2019 It was such a friendly, brotherly conversation. To an older brother: \u2018Are you really going to fly there?\u2019 \u2014 \u2018Well, they asked, they\u2019re waiting for me there.\u2019 I say: \u2018What are you doing! There\u2019s a war going on!\u2019 \u2014 \u2018Well, they\u2019re not that crazy anymore, not that crazy.\u2019 I say: \u2018And you think everyone there is in their right mind? No point going there!\u2019 Lavrov flew then. Maybe not because I pressured him. But I expressed my opinion to him.<\/i><\/p>\n

But it wasn\u2019t just some, you know, village talk. Our intelligence \u2014 good for them, they\u2019ve been working quite well lately \u2014 informed us. At the level of conversations, gossip from the West, that a terrorist act against the president of Russia was being prepared,\u201d<\/i> Lukashenka said.<\/p>\n

Lukashenka claims that he often warns Putin about danger and advises him not to fly anywhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I often tell him: \u2018Well, there\u2019s a war going on, well, there\u2019s no need to fly there. If someone needs to see you \u2014 they will fly to you. He invited us to St. Petersburg. His closest friends flew there. Others will fly too. Xi Jinping<\/b> will fly in, people from Iran and from other countries will come. But one has to be more careful. These people cannot be trusted. But, I say, you know better \u2014 you worked in this field, this is your field (the Chekist one), you know better.\u2019 There was some kind of not carelessness, but a loss of a certain vigilance,\u201d<\/i> Lukashenka said.<\/p>\n

Lukashenka believes that the West is deceiving Putin and wants to remove him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd today I thought about how right I was when I warned him and cautioned him. It is clear that all of them in the West understand: remove Putin \u2014 and everything will be different. This must be taken seriously. I am talking about this for the first time today, because one must not be careless. They deceived him, and he himself admits this, constantly,\u201d<\/i> Lukashenka said.<\/p>\n

He also recalled Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and claimed that Putin had been deceived by Catholics and Jews.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first months and even weeks, when Russian troops were in Kyiv. And then Catholics, Jews \u2014 there were these two powerful clans \u2014 were at the forefront: \u2018Oh, we need to end the war\u2026\u2019 And Putin says: \u2018Yes, we need to end it.\u2019 We punched each other in the face, let\u2019s stop. \u2014 \u2018Yes, Vladimir Vladimirovich, well, we need to withdraw the troops and that\u2019s it, we\u2019ve reconciled, we\u2019ve stopped.\u2019 Did we stop? No, we did not. That means you cannot believe them,\u201d<\/i> Lukashenka concluded.<\/p>\n

Lukashenka also commented on Russia\u2019s statements<\/a> about an alleged attack on Putin\u2019s residence, threatened Ukraine with Russian strikes on decision-making centers, and urged Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/b> to reach an agreement.<\/p>\n
