On December 15, Ukrainian and Russian families were reunited at the Belarus\u2013Ukraine border. The event was announced the day before by Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova<\/b>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs early as tomorrow, 22 families \u2014 30 people \u2014 will be reunited. Fifteen will return to Russia, and fifteen to Ukraine,\u201d<\/i> she wrote on her Telegram channel.<\/p>\n

Moskalkova thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross, Russian security services, and the Belarusian side.<\/p>\n

According to TASS, 12 women and three men will arrive in Russia from Ukraine. Most of them are elderly people. Moskalkova claimed that Ukraine is allegedly refusing to accept six of its citizens who were taken by Russian troops from the Sumy region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are also six people who are currently in Kursk, evacuated from the combat zone by Russian military personnel and wishing to return to their families, to their relatives and loved ones. But so far we have not received a clear understanding of when the Ukrainian side is ready to take them. Today this is one of the issues on our agenda,\u201d<\/i> Moskalkova said.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets<\/b> stated that 15 people, mostly with limited mobility, returned to Ukraine, along with 45 people who had been held in temporary detention facilities on Russian territory.<\/p>\n

In addition, Ukraine handed over to the Russian side 2,000 parcels of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian prisoners and letters from relatives.<\/p>\n

An agreement was reached on verifying persons missing under special circumstances, and the relevant lists were exchanged. Lists of severely wounded and seriously ill individuals were also handed over, along with a list of illegally detained Ukrainian civilians and Ukrainian prisoners of war convicted in the Russian Federation. A \u201cnumber of other humanitarian issues\u201d were also discussed.<\/p>\n
