This was stated on RMF FM by Poland\u2019s Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration <b>Czes\u0142aw Mroczek<\/b>. Last week, Polish border guards discovered a fourth tunnel beneath the border barrier. Around 180 migrants managed to pass through it from Belarusian territory, 130 of whom were detained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>According to our findings, obtained during interviews with those who attempted to reach the Polish side, specialists were engaged to dig the tunnels<\/i>,\u201d Mroczek said.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to follow-up questions about the origins of these specialists \u2014 whether they come from the Middle East, including the Gaza Strip \u2014 the deputy minister limited himself to mentioning Syrians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>Among the migrants are citizens of Syria. In short, we have people there who, as I said, have experience in such activities<\/i>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mroczek noted that the shift toward a \u201ctunnel\u201d tactic indicates the effectiveness of countermeasures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>Previous methods have failed; now they are trying to enter through tunnels, but we are prepared for this<\/i>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Polish services are currently fine-tuning detection systems at the border to identify tunnelling more effectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>We are reconfiguring the entire system to detect underground activity<\/i>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy minister explained that the sensors collect a large volume of information, which is assessed with the help of AI to filter out animal movements and so on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>Therefore, we now need to calibrate this system so that\u2026 so that we successfully detect every action that\u2026 for example, underground vibrations.
