{"id":500292,"date":"2025-12-05T13:00:03","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T10:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=500292"},"modified":"2025-12-05T15:02:48","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T12:02:48","slug":"journalist-ihar-iliyash-added-to-extremist-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/journalist-ihar-iliyash-added-to-extremist-list","title":{"rendered":"Journalist Ihar Iliyash Added to \u201cExtremist List\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The Ministry of Internal Affairs has added 24 more people to the \u201cList of Citizens of the Republic of Belarus, Foreign Citizens or Stateless Persons Involved in Extremist Activities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Among them are political prisoner <strong>Ihar Iliyash<\/strong> and the defendants in the Pismo.bel case \u2014 <strong>Aliaksandr Lykshyn<\/strong>, <strong>Aliaksandr Mazur<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Pavel Karaniukhin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The list now contains 6,066 names.<\/p>\n<p>Iliyash was detained in October 2024. He was charged with \u201cdiscrediting Belarus\u201d (Article 369-1) and \u201cfacilitating extremist activity\u201d (Part 2 of Article 361-4). In September he was sentenced to four years in a high-security penal colony and fined 100 base units. In his final statement, Iliyash rejected all accusations and did not plead guilty.<\/p>\n<p>Ihar Iliyash is the husband of Belsat journalist <strong>Katsiaryna Andreyeva<\/strong>, who has been sentenced to 8.3 years in prison on a state treason charge.<\/p>\n<p>Pismo.bel was a service for sending letters to inmates. It was intended for all prisoners, with only 10% of letters going to political prisoners. Mazur and Karaniukhin were each sentenced to 3.5 years in a high-security colony, while Lykshyn received three years and seven months.
