The monument, shaped like a large sword planted halfway into the ground, was installed in 2013 for the 150th anniversary of the uprising, according to the Telegram channel Spadchyna.<\/p>\n<p>The monument was likely destroyed as early as 2023 or earlier. Our newsroom received photos of the site where the monument had stood, dated February and March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The sword featured two crosses (Catholic and Orthodox), the Pahonia coat of arms, and on the blade was engraved the password of the scythemen: <i>\u201cWhom do you love? \u2013 Belarus! \u2013 Then we are united\u2026\u201d<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, pro-Russian activists had spoken out against the monument.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that the monument had been installed on private land and with private funds.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the village of Slabodka in the Astravets District, near the approach to the Katlouka\u2013Lavoryshki border checkpoint on the Belarus\u2013Lithuania border, a monument to the rebels of 1863 has been removed.
