{"id":496171,"date":"2025-11-12T16:44:31","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T13:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=496171"},"modified":"2025-11-12T18:06:55","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T15:06:55","slug":"ukraine-explains-why-it-has-not-closed-its-embassy-in-belarus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/ukraine-explains-why-it-has-not-closed-its-embassy-in-belarus","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine Explains Why It Has Not Closed Its Embassy in Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s embassy in Minsk continues to operate in order to minimize the risks of Belarus being further drawn into the war and to assist Ukrainian citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine told LIGA.net in response to an inquiry.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cThe activities of Ukraine\u2019s embassy in the Republic of Belarus are primarily aimed at minimizing the risks of Belarus being further drawn into Russia\u2019s armed aggression against our state, providing consular assistance and support in returning illegally deported Ukrainian children to Ukraine, and offering consular protection and assistance to Ukrainian citizens who are on the territory of the Russian Federation or held in its penitentiary institutions,\u201d<\/i> the ministry said in its response.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the embassy is working with the foreign diplomatic corps on cases of Russia\u2019s violations of international humanitarian law, including Belarus\u2019s involvement in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n<p>The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry clarified that Ukraine\u2019s military attach\u00e9 office in Belarus is not operating.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus\u2019s embassy in Ukraine has been closed since 2022.
