Viktar Lukashenka, president of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, is visiting Azerbaijan.
On October 4, Lukashenka attended the World Judo Championships in Baku and held talks with European Judo Union President László Tóth. The talks included the participation of Belarusian athletes, referees and specialists in projects under the auspices of the European federation.
On October 5, Lukashenka met with International Judo Federation (IJF) President Marius Vizer and discussed the possibility of holding international events in Belarus.
A meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov also took place today. The sides discussed the current state and prospects for developing sports cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus, as well as other issues of mutual interest, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sports reports.
A meeting with the leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan focused on expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus in sports and the Olympic movement.
Azerbaijan was represented in the talks by National Olympic Committee Vice President Chingiz Huseynzade and Secretary General Azar Aliyev. The Belarusian delegation included Viktar Lukashenka, National Olympic Committee of Belarus Secretary General Ksenia Sankovich, Lukashenka’s aide Yuliya Kandrusik and press secretary Palina Ihnatsenka, the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan reports.
