The Viasna human rights center has information on 234 confirmed convictions in the “Hajun case.” The total number of people involved in the case is significantly higher, while arrests related to it continue across Belarus, human rights defenders say.
According to their information, trials in the “Hajun case” are held almost daily. Since the beginning of 2026, the Interior Ministry has added 526 people convicted of “facilitating extremist activities” to the list of persons involved in “extremist activities.” The overwhelming majority of them are defendants in the “Hajun case.”
Those accused in the case are mostly sentenced to “home confinement,” although there have also been cases in which defendants were sentenced to imprisonment.
“Belarusian Hajun” is a monitoring OSINT project tracking the military activity of Russian and Belarusian troops. The monitoring group was created before the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war by activist Anton Matolka. In early February 2025, security forces gained access to a chat with the project’s bot. The project subsequently announced that it was shutting down.
