United Transitional Cabinet Proposes “Young Belarusian Visa”

The representative of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus for youth policy Marharyta Vorykhava said on “Euroradio” that a proposal has been put forward to create a special “young Belarusian visa” for citizens aged between 18 and 30.

According to her, the idea of simplifying visa access for Belarusians has been promoted for several years, but concerns have been raised in response regarding security and the need for additional checks. It was therefore decided to focus on young people as the group most oriented towards Europe.

Vorykhava believes that there is less risk among young people of being “affiliated with the KGB or other structures” due to their age.

It is proposed that such a visa be issued under a simplified procedure — not only for those forced to leave Belarus because of repression, but also for those who simply want to get to know Europe and return home.

In this way, the politician said, it would be possible to counter propaganda narratives about a “bad Europe”.

“This can only be done when you are physically there, feel that there is freedom, and when you return to Belarus and can then tell your friends and family and thus counter propaganda”, Vorykhava said.
