Ukrainian forces are conducting an offensive operation in the northern part of Donetsk region. Commander of the Third Army Corps, Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi, said this in a video address. According to him, the operation has been named “Vivaldi”.
“For the past several weeks, there has been continued discussion about the withdrawal of Russian forces in the Donetsk direction and the elimination of the so-called Lyman salient. Settlements that have come under the control of Ukraine’s defense forces are being named. Military maps are changing. I would not say that this attention is helping our operations, which are only now gaining momentum. What can be reported at this point? Indeed, the Third Army Corps has launched an offensive operation in this direction called ‘Vivaldi’,” he said.
Biletskyi stressed that the operation is being conducted under a media blackout. He said Ukrainian troops had taken Srednie and cleared four settlements and their surroundings of infiltration — a total of 75 square kilometers was cleared, while 10 square kilometers was deoccupied.
“There is currently a lot of information in open sources that the ultimate goal of our offensive actions is to reach the banks of the Chornyi Zherebets River. But our operation is called ‘Vivaldi’. And, as is well known, Vivaldi has four seasons. And this is only the first of them,” Biletskyi said.
According to him, Russian losses amounted to around 1,500 personnel, more than 12,000 drones and hundreds of units of armored vehicles, motor vehicles and artillery systems. Strikes were also carried out against Russian logistics, forcing the Russian side to move its fuel and lubricant supply infrastructure beyond Ukraine into Voronezh region.
