A Ukrainian citizen is suspected of transferring software to Belarus for the KTS-21M stationary integrated simulator designed to train military pilots.
As RFE/RL’s Belarus Service reports, citing an informed source, several Ukrainian citizens are involved in the case. One of them allegedly works in Belarus for the Aeromash Group of Production Technologies and Aircraft Manufacturing, a closed joint-stock company located in Machulishchy near Minsk.
The company develops, manufactures, repairs and modernizes aircraft equipment, as well as develops and services flight simulators. The KTS-21M simulators are used to train pilots of MiG-29 military aircraft.
According to Ukrainian investigators, the software was transferred no later than June 2025 through one of the messaging apps, in violation of sanctions and international rules governing the transfer of dual-use goods and technologies. The suspect allegedly received $1,000 for the transfer. The recipient of the information was his former colleague at the Institute of Automated Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian citizen previously worked as a designer of modular electronic flight simulators for Mi-8 and Mi-24 military helicopters, MiG-29 fighter jets and Il-76 military transport aircraft.
A search was conducted at the suspect’s residence. Investigators seized electronic data storage devices and mobile phones. He has been released under an undertaking not to leave the country.
Earlier, investigators said that more than 100 Belarusian enterprises were fulfilling military contracts for Russia.
