The Ukrainian and Russian delegations have met at Homiel Airport, BelTA reports. The meeting is connected with the humanitarian operation in Oleshky.
Earlier, a plane carrying the Russian delegation landed in the regional center.
The Ukrainian delegation, headed by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, crossed the border at the Novaya Huta checkpoint before traveling to Homiel Airport. American journalists are accompanying the Ukrainian delegation. It is emphasized that the Belarusian side ensured the delegation’s security and provided a full escort. The delegation traveled in Belarusian vehicles.
Ukraine and Russia are observing a ceasefire in the area around Oleshky, located on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region. The settlement is occupied by Russian forces. In recent months, fighting has effectively cut it off. The city is facing a severe humanitarian crisis. With the participation of international mediators, the parties agreed to a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered and civilians to be evacuated.

Dmytro Lubinets confirmed on his Telegram channel that he was heading to Oleshky.
“I confirm that I have set off toward Oleshky with the Ukrainian delegation to carry out a humanitarian mission.
The next steps are to deliver humanitarian aid to people who remain in the city and work to ensure that they can leave safely.
This work is being carried out under agreements reached with Yana Lantratova, the Russian human rights commissioner, with the assistance and coordination of US First Lady Melania Trump.
Our focus is on what matters most: doing everything possible for the people who are waiting for help,” he wrote.
