A 49-year-old Kyiv resident who cooperated with Belarusian and Russian security services has been sentenced in Ukraine to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was found guilty of high treason, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported.
According to the indictment, the man cooperated with representatives of the Belarusian and Russian security services and provided them with intelligence about the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv.
“The cooperation began in May 2025 with correspondence on Telegram. The local manual laborer came to their attention after posting pro-Kremlin comments in Telegram channels. By October, he had begun carrying out intelligence tasks — gathering information and providing the coordinates of facilities in the capital.
In particular, the man filmed the perimeter of a Kyiv combined heat and power plant with his mobile phone camera from the window of his own apartment. After Russian strikes, he conducted additional reconnaissance near the facility to determine its technical condition and the consequences of the attacks,” the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine said.
The defendant also photographed locations where Ukrainian military personnel were stationed. He sent the data to Telegram channels and chatbots used by the Belarusian and Russian security services, including a chatbot operated by the Belarusian State Border Committee.
In exchange for carrying out the assignments, the man planned to evacuate from Ukraine. He packed a tactical backpack with essential items for illegally crossing the border.
The man did not have time to leave Ukraine: he was detained in Kyiv in late 2025.
