Belarusian border service officers detained two citizens in Dzyarzhynsk on June 16 for transporting a psychotropic substance. The detention took place during operational search activities aimed at disrupting a drug supply channel into Belarus.
A forensic examination established that the seized substance contained mephedrone and 4-CMC. The inquiry body of the Smarhon Border Group has opened a criminal case under an article covering the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The detainees face up to five years in prison.
Operational and investigative measures to identify all individuals involved and uncover channels used to supply psychotropic substances to Belarus are ongoing, the State Border Committee of Belarus said.
