Two Drones Carrying Belarusian Cigarettes Intercepted in Lithuania Over the Weekend

Lithuanian border guards intercepted two drones carrying cigarette shipments from Belarus. The cigarettes are estimated to be worth €4,700, the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service reports.

The first drone was detected overnight on Friday near the village of Dumblė. It was forced to land using anti-drone equipment, but could not be located because of darkness and dense fog. The crashed drone was found in the morning, 290 metres from the border. A package containing 100 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes bearing Belarusian excise stamps was attached to it.

The second drone was intercepted overnight on Sunday near the village of Daugidonys. It crashed approximately 1,050 metres from the border. A package containing 750 packs of Minsk 5 Superslims cigarettes was found next to the drone.

Both drones sustained serious damage when they crashed. Border guards have initiated two administrative proceedings.
