Two Belarusians Detained at Border With Marijuana

Two men were detained at the Polish-Belarusian border after marijuana was found among their personal belongings.

A 41-year-old resident of Minsk was traveling from Poland through the Brest border checkpoint. A service dog reacted to the man’s bag. A package containing a green-colored substance was found inside, the State Customs Committee reported.

The Minsk resident was also transporting 35 kilograms of food products and power tools in excess of the duty-free import limit. He was held administratively liable for this violation.

Another package containing a prohibited substance was found in the backpack of a 29-year-old resident of Homyel.

An expert examination showed that in both cases the detainees attempted to smuggle marijuana. Criminal cases have been opened.
