Tsikhanouskaya to Speak at EU Forum on Parliamentary Democracy

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will speak today at the opening of the second European Union Forum on Parliamentary Democracy. It is being held at the European Parliament on September 29–30.

“Glad to be back in Brussels today to speak at the opening of the second EU Parliamentary Democracy Forum at the European Parliament.

I will also deliver the keynote address at the conference ‘The Road to Freedom in Europe (Poland, June 1976),’” she reported.

The forum brings together Members of the European Parliament, members of national parliaments in EU countries, representatives of EU institutions, civil society organizations, academics and experts to exchange ideas, experience and best practices.

This year’s forum includes four main sessions:

• Mobilizing a Whole-of-Society Approach to Safeguarding Elections
• EU Strategy for Civil Society
• From Legislation to Implementation: Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight at EU and National Levels
• Protecting Democracy Amid Geopolitical Instability: Toward a Parliamentary Diplomacy Approach within Team Europe
