Belarusians have stood with Ukrainians since the first days of the war, while Aliaksandr Lukashenka does not represent the citizens of Belarus and serves Russia’s interests, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said.
Tsikhanouskaya’s Office compiled quotes by the head of the United Transitional Cabinet on the Russia-Ukraine war from the past six months:
“There is no hostility between Belarusians and Ukrainians. We are confronting a common enemy — Russian imperialism, which does not recognise the right of our peoples to determine their own future.”
“What unites us with Ukraine are our values, our aspiration for freedom, our desire to break free from the grip of empire, and our European future.”
“We will always stand with people defending their homes, their families and their freedom. The Belarusian people support Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
“We must do more to help Ukraine in every way we can: politically, through information efforts, by supporting Belarusian volunteers and activists, through cooperation with Ukrainian institutions, and by maintaining ties with Belarusians living in Ukraine.”
“The main thing Belarus can and must offer Ukraine in the future is security. A guarantee that more than 1,000 kilometres of our shared border will be safe. That Belarus will never again become a launching pad for aggression. That Russian tanks will never again pass through Belarus.”
“The regime has made Belarus complicit. But Lukashenka is a usurper who does not represent Belarusians and serves exclusively the interests of the Kremlin. Belarus is not Russia, and Belarusians are not the regime.”
“Belarusians have stood with Ukrainians since the first days. Protest actions, the sabotage of Russian military forces, the Railway Partisans, Belarusian Hajun, volunteers, the Point of Invincibility initiative, and volunteer fighters, dozens of whom gave their lives for Ukraine. Today, the Belarusian diaspora donates more money to support Ukraine than to Belarusian projects themselves.”
“Our shared task is to prevent Belarus from being drawn fully into the war. This is first and foremost in the national interests of our country.”
