Tragedy in Mahiliou: Husband Found Below Apartment Windows, Wife Found Inside With Stab Wounds

A married couple has died in Mahiliou. Their bodies were discovered on the morning of September 10, the State Forensic Examination Committee’s Mahiliou Regional Department reported.

According to investigators, passersby found the 44-year-old man lifeless below the windows of an apartment building. The body of his 50-year-old wife was found in the bedroom of their apartment with stab wounds. An initial examination found that the man had injuries consistent with a fall from a height. The woman had sustained stab wounds. Preliminary findings indicate that she died from acute blood loss.

According to the State Forensic Examination Committee, the couple had consumed alcohol the previous evening. The family, which was raising a son and a daughter, was described positively at their place of residence and work.

An investigative team is working at the scene. Specialists are examining the apartment, documenting evidence and questioning neighbors and relatives of the deceased. The Mahiliou Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 139 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (murder). Investigators are establishing the circumstances and causes of the incident.
