Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain and Hail. Forecasters Issue Storm Warning for Southwestern Belarus

Forecasters have issued a storm warning with an orange hazard level.

“During the day on May 12 (Tuesday), thunderstorms are expected across the southwestern half of the republic, with heavy downpours, hail and squally wind gusts of 15-20 m/s possible in some areas during thunderstorms,” the warning said.

Tonight, weather conditions in Belarus will mainly be determined by an area of high atmospheric pressure. However, during the night in the west and during the day across most of the country, active frontal systems moving from Western Europe will influence the weather.

Variable cloudiness is expected. Short-term rain is forecast overnight in the west and during the day across most of the country.

Minimum overnight temperatures will range from +3°C to +9°C, and from +10°C to +13°C in the west. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from +17°C in the northwest to +25°C in the southeast.
