Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi considers the threat of a Russian offensive from Belarus to be real. He made the statement in an interview with the Ukrainian online media outlet Militarnyi.
“We have 1,200 km of active front line. The enemy outnumbers us twofold in terms of brigades and regiments. You understand that we are constantly conducting combat operations. And the tendency is that the front line will expand. You know the latest intelligence data and the statements by our President of Ukraine, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, about the Russian threat from Belarus, a possible operation in the north. This is real.
We know this data and that the Russian General Staff is now actively studying and planning offensive operations from the north. This means the front line will increase further,” Syrskyi said.
As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Aliaksandr Lukashenka is actively negotiating with the Russian side in order to draw Belarus deeper into the war. According to Ukraine, Russia is considering plans for operations from Belarusian territory against Ukraine or one of the NATO countries.
