Sybiha Urges International Community to Remain Vigilant Over Military Exercise in Hrodna Region

Ukraine has called on the international community to remain vigilant in connection with the mobilization exercise taking place in Belarus’s Hrodna Region. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made the statement on X.

“From June 20 to July 2, the Ashmiany District military commissariat is summoning around 2,000 conscripts and organizing preliminary assembly points. Although these activities are officially described as a routine verification of records, they are in fact a tactic aimed at intimidating neighboring countries. The Belarusian leadership is showing no intention of de-escalating the situation. On the contrary, Minsk is increasing its military presence near the borders of Ukraine and NATO countries,” the foreign minister said.

“This strategy serves the Kremlin’s interests and constitutes political blackmail that directly contradicts the Belarusian leadership’s public statements about peace. Ukraine continues to closely monitor Belarus’s actions, once again warns Minsk against deepening its involvement in Russia’s aggression, and calls on the international community to increase pressure on the Lukashenka regime,” he added.

As previously stated by the Belarusian Ministry of Defence, the exercise is scheduled to continue through June 26. During the drills, explosions and gunfire may be heard near military commissariats and other facilities. Traffic restrictions are also possible on certain streets near military commissariats.
