Former political prisoner and politician Mikalai Statkevich met with official representatives of the European Union in Belarus. He announced the meeting on his Telegram channel.
“I had a meeting with official representatives of the EU in our country.
I took the opportunity to express my gratitude to the EU’s governing institutions for their assistance to Ukraine and solidarity with the subjugated countries of our region,” he said.
Statkevich also stressed the importance of support from the free world.
“The current regional wars (the defensive war in Ukraine and the cold civil war here at home) are primarily wars over values, in which the forces of freedom are confronting the forces of tyranny. The fate of the region and the continent, as well as the future of the entire planet, will be determined by these wars.
Support from the free world, in which the EU plays the most significant role, shows that we are not alone in our struggle, that the forces of freedom in the world outweigh the forces of tyranny. And that, ultimately, freedom will prevail over slavery.
Belarus will be free!” he added.
