The State Control Committee of the Minsk Region has checked the availability and quality of products from stabilization funds in retail stores.
“Monitoring showed that in most retail outlets the sale of vegetable products from stabilization funds is ensured. At the same time, violations of trade rules, sanitary and epidemiological requirements, and standardization were identified in 16 stores. The majority of violations were related to the sale of low-quality fruit and vegetable products,” the State Control Committee reported.
In Smilavichy, inspectors found potatoes “with multiple damages,” while in Berezina they discovered spoiled apples. In two stores in Smalyavichy and Vileyka, only washed carrots were on sale.
“Table carrots were brought out to the sales floors only after state control inspectors pointed out these violations,” the statement said.
Business entities were issued recommendations to eliminate the violations. The State Control Committee also warned that in the event of repeated violations, the issue of administrative liability would be considered.
Under Article 13.12-1 of the Code of Administrative Offences, the absence of fruit and vegetable products from stabilization funds supplied by a procurement organization in a retail outlet during the off-season period entails a fine of between five and twelve base units for individuals, and between twenty and two hundred base units for legal entities.
