Somon Air operated its first scheduled flight between Dushanbe and Minsk on August 29, the press service of Minsk National Airport reported.
Flights will operate once a week on Saturdays. The airport said it expects the frequency to increase in the future.
“We are confident that the airline will not limit itself to one flight a week, and we are ready to handle the growing passenger traffic between Dushanbe and Minsk,” said Minsk National Airport Director General Uladzimir Charaukhau.
The aircraft arriving from Dushanbe was welcomed with a water salute. A traditional bread-and-salt ceremony was held at the aircraft stairs.
