Second Consecutive Day Of Knife Attacks At Polish Schools

Polish police have detained a 15-year-old boy who carried out a knife attack at a school in the village of Leszczydół-Nowiny.

“The 15-year-old is in police custody after he entered a school in Leszczydół-Nowiny, Wyszków County, at around 9 a.m. and stabbed three school employees. Among those injured was the school principal, who also detained the 15-year-old. Police arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving the report. An investigation is currently underway.

Despite resuscitation efforts, the life of a 37-year-old female school employee could not be saved,” the Masovian Voivodeship Police reported.

This was not the only attack at an educational institution in the past two days. On Wednesday, a 19-year-old student at a technical school in Ostrołęka entered the building with a knife and began attacking people. He injured five students and two teachers. He then fled the school and stabbed two more people in a nearby park. A total of nine people, including the attacker, were taken to hospitals. The attacker was also injured while being detained by police.

According to students at the school, before the attack the young man wrote to one of his friends: “Today is my birthday. I have plans for the day. People will be talking about it.”

Pyrotechnic devices were found in the young man’s backpack.

Today, Polish police reported that another attack at a school was prevented on Oct. 7. A 17-year-old boy was detained in Sierpc. He said he wanted to “do something bad at school.” Teachers notified police. On Wednesday morning, officers detained the teenager at his place of residence. Two knives were found in his bag. Police also seized his phone, which contained traces of searches for information related to preparing an attack.
