Sakreta Announces Participation of Major Regional Organisations in Minsk Security Conference

Representatives of major regional organisations will take part in the Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security. This was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister Ihar Sakreta. He also mentioned the OSCE Secretary General.

“We expect strong interest, a very active discussion and interesting proposals at the conference. The opening session will be quite large, and many prominent figures will be there, including the OSCE Secretary General. This is the first time we have had the opportunity to bring together representatives of the largest regional organisations on one platform. The interest shown by former leaders is a result of the work we are doing with these organisations. It shows that the ideas and thoughts we put forward and discuss at the conference are not falling on deaf ears,” he said, BelTA reports.

According to him, the organisers’ goal is to create a “neutral platform” that will encourage “the active involvement of countries in the European part of our continent” in discussions on and efforts to resolve “international security issues”.

“Our goal as organisers is to make those who believe that there are hostile states somewhere east of the Bug River question that assumption. That is not the case. We want to sow doubts, make people question their assumptions, ask questions and make contact. We want to encourage new experts to attend, and draw the attention of our colleagues in European foreign ministries,” he added.
