Ryzhankou Calls Meeting With Sikorski “Defining”

Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou described his meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski as “defining.” The meeting took place on September 23 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“Among the contacts with the West, I would single out this defining meeting,” he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that it was the first meeting in recent years between the foreign ministers of Belarus and Poland.

Ryzhankou also spoke about his meeting with Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár. He described talks with representatives of European Union countries as a recent development in Belarusian foreign policy.

“Not because we did not want them, but because, for some reason, the Europeans became ready to hold them,” the diplomat said.
