Russian Satellite Internet to Be Tested in Belarus

Testing of the Russian satellite internet service developed by Bureau 1440 will begin in Belarus in the coming weeks. Alexey Shelobkov, head of IX Holding, which includes the company, told TASS.

“In the coming weeks, we will begin testing with Belintersat to check whether the service works from Belarusian territory. Of course, we are also negotiating with other countries, because Bureau 1440 is being developed as a global constellation. Global coverage is built into the target architecture of our system. This creates opportunities to expand into international markets. As our negotiations with other countries produce concrete results, we will share information about them. For now, we are at the preparation stage,” he said.

According to Shelobkov, a terminal called 1440.Zemlya has also been developed for use on rail transport. A prototype has been installed on a test train. The terminals are expected to be installed on Lastochka trains in the future.

Another area of service development is hybrid connectivity, which is being rolled out in cooperation with federal and regional mobile network operators.
