A Russian national who beat two Belarusians on Zybitskaya Street in Minsk has been sentenced to 5.5 years in prison. He appealed the verdict, but the court upheld the decision of the lower court, the Minsk Prosecutor’s Office reports.
As previously reported by the media, the defendant is Russian blogger and boxing candidate master of sports Sergei Timofeev.
The incident occurred on March 8, 2026. The 21-year-old Russian was spending time with a group at various establishments on Zybitskaya Street. When he went outside for a walk, he got into a conflict with two strangers over their inappropriate behavior.
Timofeev struck one of the victims in the head. The man fell and hit his head on the asphalt. The second victim tried to defend his friend but was also struck in the head.
The first victim was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, fractures of the skull and lower jaw, hemorrhages under the dura and pia mater, and a brain contusion. He fell into a coma as a result of his injuries.
The second victim suffered bruises and abrasions to his face.
The Russian national was sentenced to 5.5 years in a high-security penal colony. He was also ordered to pay 100,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages to the first victim and 6,000 rubles to the second. He must also compensate the victims for property damage and legal expenses.
The defendant partially admitted his guilt and filed an appeal, but the Criminal Cases Chamber of the Minsk City Court upheld the verdict.
