Russian Bank Assesses Impact Of Attacks On Wildberries And Ozon Warehouses

VTB, a Russian bank, has assessed the impact of attacks on Wildberries and Ozon warehouses. VTB First Deputy Chairman Dmitry Pyanov said they had not affected the companies’ ability to service their loans.

“The situation with the marketplaces’ logistics infrastructure could lead to a short-term decline in revenue and credit quality, but even in a stress scenario, it merely moves these borrowers from the first-class category to the normal category under current macroeconomic conditions,” he said, according to RBC.

According to him, the loss of warehouse space will require the companies to make investments, which will affect the marketplaces’ free cash flow. Funds will also be needed to replenish burned goods.

“Some decline in the metrics will be observed in 2027, but it will not lead to a multiple increase in the companies’ debt indicators,” he said.

He estimated that the debt burden on the marketplaces is moderate.

Pyanov believes the marketplaces are capable of recovering, as consumer demand remains strong. In addition, the government has approved measures to provide tax support to the companies. The normalization of price competition will also lead to a reduction in discounts offered by the marketplaces.

The VTB first deputy chairman noted that the marketplaces had not applied for loan restructuring. At the same time, sellers had submitted applications for hundreds of millions of rubles, but this amount does not affect the banks’ business, although the losses are significant for some individuals.
