Russia to Send First Tanker Carrying Diesel Fuel to US on October 22

The first tanker carrying Russian diesel fuel is scheduled to depart for the United States on October 22. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced this.

“The first tanker is scheduled to leave port tomorrow, the 22nd, for the United States of America,” TASS quoted him as saying.

The agency reported that Novak specified that the tanker would have a displacement of 40,000 tonnes.

“Further shipments will certainly follow. As agreed between the two leaders, we will meet the needs of the United States of America to the fullest extent of our capabilities,” he said.

Novak’s statement came as Russian President Vladimir Putin began talks with US special envoy Steve Witkoff. During the meeting, it emerged that the Russian side was releasing an American citizen.

The deputy prime minister also said that Russia would gradually resume diesel fuel exports.

“We are not restoring exports to their full volume at this stage, but only to the extent permitted by the capabilities of our oil refineries. If, according to the schedule, we can return to full capacity only by the end of the year, other countries will then receive the volumes they previously received. This will depend on how much we can supply in addition to meeting the needs of the United States of America. I think other countries will also receive diesel fuel,” he said.
