Russia Returns More Than 20 Tonnes of Peat to Belarus

Russia has returned 21.1 tonnes of peat to Belarus. The shipment was being transported with an invalid phytosanitary certificate.

A truck carrying the peat was stopped at the Dolostsy plant quarantine checkpoint in Russia’s Pskov Region, on the Russian-Belarusian border.

An inspection found that the phytosanitary certificate contained amendments that had not been certified by the authorised body. The document was deemed insufficient to confirm that the imported plant products complied with the common quarantine requirements, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) reported.

The shipment was barred from entering Russia.
