The Russian government has decided to ban exports of certain petrochemical products outside the Eurasian Economic Union. The measure is intended to ensure that Russian companies have sufficient raw materials.
“The restriction has been introduced for three months and applies to exports of coal-derived and petroleum-derived benzene, toluene, ortho-xylene, para-xylene and phenol. They are used, among other things, in the production of coatings for the automotive, aviation, shipbuilding and railway industries, food packaging, flooring and insulation materials for cable products, as well as in the medical industry”, the Russian government said.
Russia had previously introduced restrictions and bans on fuel exports following drone strikes on oil refineries.
