Rosoboronexport is exploring the joint production of the Su-75 fighter jet with Belarus. The announcement was made by the company’s director general, Aleksandr Mikheyev.
“Rosoboronexport is currently working on the issue of joint production of the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter with Belarusian partners. Interest in this aircraft remains high in the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region,” he said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
The Su-75 is a light tactical aircraft whose prototype was unveiled at the MAKS-2021 air show. The first flight of the Su-75 is expected in 2026. The aircraft is projected to have a maximum supercruise speed of up to Mach 2 and a practical range of up to 2,900 km. Its combat payload capacity is 7.4 tonnes.
The fighter’s armaments will include air-to-air missiles and a twin-barrel 23-mm cannon. It will also be capable of carrying precision-guided bombs and air-to-surface missiles.
