Reconstructed Waiting Area For 370 Vehicles Opened At Brest Border Crossing

A reconstructed waiting area has officially opened at the Brest border crossing, the press service of the Belarusian State Customs Committee reports. The site is designed to accommodate about 370 vehicles.

Before reconstruction, the area could hold 84 parking spaces. Its size has been increased by 2.3 hectares, and the number of parking spots has grown fourfold — with 235 spaces added for passenger vehicles and 50 for buses.

The site is equipped with electric vehicle charging stations, an automatic license plate recognition system, roadside service facilities, sanitary blocks and rest areas. A total of 17 electronic boards have been installed across the территории, duplicating calls for vehicles to proceed to the border crossing.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee Uladzimir Arlouski noted that Brest remains the busiest border crossing in the direction of the European Union. According to him, the project is aimed at improving comfort, safety and the speed of crossing the border.

The opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Piotr Parkhomchyk, presidential aide — inspector for Brest Region Aliaksandr Lomski, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Uladzimir Arlouski and representatives of local authorities.
