Moldovan police have identified the type of drone that exploded in the country’s Briceni district. Its wreckage was discovered on Sept. 24.
According to information released by police this morning, it was most likely a Geran-4 jet-powered drone. Police found a jet engine, parts of the wings with servomotors and ailerons. Many of the components are marked “Geran-4.”
According to preliminary information, the drone exploded at an altitude of about 10 meters after colliding with trees. The blast damaged trees within a radius of about 25 meters.
On Sept. 24, Moldova’s Defense Ministry reported that four objects had crossed the country’s airspace in the morning. Border guards found the drone wreckage in the evening, 1.7 km from the state border.
