Former Deputy Chairman of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee Hennadz Dzienhalyou (Gennady Dengalev) has been detained and is being held at the KGB detention center in Minsk. Radio Free Europe reports, citing sources.
According to the sources, the case in which Dzienhalyou was detained is related to finances. It is not yet known which specific charge he faces, what the investigators’ allegations are, or what his procedural status is. There is also no information on when exactly the official was detained.
The latest public mentions of Dzienhalyou as deputy chairman of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee date back to early August 2025. On August 7, he took part in events marking Construction Workers’ Day, while a call-in session had been scheduled for August 9. After that, he virtually disappeared from public view.
On January 15, 2026, Ihar Klisho was approved for the position of deputy chairman of the regional executive committee overseeing construction and housing and utilities. It was not publicly reported when exactly Dzienhalyou left the post.
Hennadz Dzienhalyou was born in 1973 in Byalynichy, Mahiliou region. He graduated from the Mahiliou Construction Technical School, the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy and the Academy of Public Administration under the President.
Dzienhalyou spent most of his career in the construction industry. Over the years, he worked for construction organizations in the Mahiliou region and headed Mahilioukhimremont, the Capital Construction Department of the Mahiliou City Executive Committee and the Main Capital Construction Department of the Presidential Administration. Since 2015, he headed Minskoblselstroy.
In 2017, Dzienhalyou became chairman of the Barysau District Executive Committee. In May 2022, he was approved for the position of deputy chairman of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee overseeing construction and housing and utilities.
