Belarusian prosecutors are visiting kindergartens to tell children about patriotism. The meetings are being held as part of the nationwide patriotic initiative “A Letter About Belarus,” which is taking place in preschool education institutions.
“The goal of these meetings is to instill in the youngest citizens a sense of pride in their country, develop national self-awareness, and foster respect for the law, state symbols and the historical heritage of the Belarusian people,” the Hrodna Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports.
Using the Smarhon Preschool Child Development Center as an example, the prosecutor’s office described how the patriotic meetings are conducted.
Prosecutors tell children that love for one’s homeland begins in the family with respect for elders and preserving traditions. The state is compared to a family that, like parents at home, establishes laws in the country.
Children are told about the national coat of arms and flag, as well as the Great Patriotic War.
At the Smarhon Preschool Child Development Center, the children sang the national anthem together with the district deputy prosecutor. After watching a video about the war, a minute of silence was observed.
According to the prosecutor’s office, similar meetings are being held in all kindergartens in the Hrodna Region.
