Prosecutor Seeks 12-Year Sentence For Brylo In “Dairy Case” — Nasha Niva

In Minsk, the trial in the criminal case against former Agriculture Minister and aide to Lukashenka Ihar Brylo, as well as the management of Babushkina Krynka led by Hienadz Skitau, is nearing completion.

According to Nasha Niva, the trial has been ongoing since September last year, and a verdict is expected soon. The outlet reports that the prosecutor has requested a 12-year prison sentence for Brylo and 13 years for Skitau. The case also involves Skitau’s son Viktar Skitau, deputy directors of Babushkina Krynka, and others — a total of 15 defendants.

They are charged under several articles of the Criminal Code, including accepting bribes, abuse of power, giving bribes, fraud, and mediation in bribery.

According to the prosecution’s version, as reported by Nasha Niva, the Skitou family, with the support of Brylo, created a system in which excess stock was artificially generated at Babushkina Krynka, allowing products to be sold at reduced prices. These goods were supplied to Russian companies, which then sold them at market prices, with the difference going to participants in the scheme.
