The Coordination Council election commission will discuss the possibility of postponing the elections for security reasons at an unscheduled meeting, “Pozirk” writes.

The reason was doubts raised in a “Nasha Niva” report regarding Sumsub, the company responsible for voter verification — checking passport data, photographs and other information.

The chair of the Coordination Council election commission, Alena Prykhodzka, commented to Euroradio on the situation surrounding Sumsub, which was chosen as the contractor for passport verification in the elections.

According to her, some of the issues have already been examined. In particular, the commission found no confirmation that the data leaks occurred due to the company’s own fault.

“There were two episodes, and they are described in detail, including the causes. As for the possible cooperation of this company with providers of technical solutions that developed passport identification systems in Russia — at least the company itself denies this. But we will continue to study this part in detail.

We also examined the owners of the Cypriot company mentioned in the ‘Nasha Niva’ article, and yes, they are citizens of Russia and Israel. But the fact that a person is a Russian citizen and lived and worked there for a certain period does not in itself mean that he is a criminal. Taking into account everything I have said, an emergency meeting of the commission will take place today at 7 p.m. Pavel Liber will attend, Artsiom Brukhan will attend, and we will consider this issue. A decision will be made,” she said.

The elections to the fourth convocation of the Coordination Council are scheduled for May 11–17 and will be held online. A total of 174 candidates registered as part of nine electoral lists.
