Pope Leo XIV appointed a new apostolic administrator for Greek Catholics in Belarus. Father Liavontsiy Tumouski was appointed to the position. Before that, the pontiff accepted the resignation of Archimandrite Siarhei Haiek. The resignation was submitted upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
The new administrator was born in 1973 in Polatsk. Tumouski studied at the Lviv Theological Seminary and the Ukrainian Catholic University, and also continued his education in Rome. He subsequently held various church positions, including responsibility for the faithful of the Belarusian Greek Catholic Church in Poland since 2022.
