Political prisoner Zhanna Avramchyk is in serious physical and psychological condition behind bars, DissidentBy reports.
Avramchyk was tried under two criminal articles. According to human rights defenders, one of the charges was “insulting the head of Akrestsina.” The exact sentence handed to the woman is not known.
The 60-year-old Avramchyk has two brain aneurysms, which cause seizures. She takes strong medication. During the investigation, she was under house arrest, but when the verdict was announced in 2024, she was taken into custody in the courtroom.
It is known that Avramchyk’s husband worked in the mines in Salihorsk and died of cancer in 2017.
