Border guards from the Podlaskie unit of the Polish Border Guard have reported the arrest of another airborne smuggler. The suspect is a 29-year-old Polish citizen.
According to the statement, a border patrol attempted to stop a Skoda for inspection. The driver tried to flee, prompting a pursuit. The Skoda eventually stopped in a field, and the driver attempted to run away. He was apprehended.
Cigarettes worth 92,700 zlotys and fragments of a weather balloon were found in the car.
A court has ordered the man to be held in custody for three months. He has been charged with participation in an organized criminal group, failure to comply with border guards’ orders, tax offenses and other crimes.
