Poland to Increase Train Speeds to 250 km/h

Starting next year, trains in Poland will travel at speeds of up to 250 km/h on the Central Rail Line connecting Warsaw and Kraków. Travel time between the two cities will be reduced to less than two hours, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) reports, citing Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak.

PKP Intercity’s Pendolino trains are currently capable of reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h. The company operates 20 such trains. For now, they run daily across Poland at speeds of up to 200 km/h.

PKP Intercity’s new timetable will take effect in early December and will include 600 services a day.
