Poland, Lithuania and France are launching military exercises in the Suwałki Gap today. The drills will continue until June 26.

“The main objective of the international Brave Boar 2026 exercise is to conduct joint military operations and synchronise the actions of allied forces. During the exercise, significant attention will be devoted to enhancing the combat readiness of participating countries. Skills necessary to ensure the rapid and effective defence of this geographically important area will also be improved,” the Lithuanian Armed Forces said.

Lithuania has deployed troops from the Dragoon Battalion of the Žemaitija Infantry Brigade to the exercise. On the Polish side, 6,500 servicemen will take part. The main contingent will be provided by the 16th Mechanised Division.

The manoeuvres will take place at the training centre in Orzysz as well as in surrounding field areas.

The exercise will also include air force support operations. Particular attention will be paid to the use of drones and counter-drone measures, as well as long-range fire operations. The Polish side will also test K2 tanks and Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles during the manoeuvres.
