Poland is testing a “smart border” system as part of Operation Safe Podlasie, which is being carried out along the border with Belarus. The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command reported this.
Yarosław Chojnacki, Chief of Staff of the Operational Command, visited the Podlasie Operational Group, which was deployed to assist border guards. He was shown elements of the project.
The system uses artificial intelligence to collect and analyze data from cameras, drones and other sensors.
“Solutions using robotics, autonomous systems and AI-based tools are being tested along a section of the eastern border several dozen kilometers long,” the command said.
The project reflects the multi-domain nature of modern operations, with the capabilities of various tools and information from different environments combined into a single system designed to support the activities of Polish soldiers and officers.
“‘Smart border’ is the next step in building a modern, integrated and resilient state border protection system, in which artificial intelligence and modern technologies support people and enhance their capabilities in a dynamically changing security environment,” the command said.
