Russian strikes are forcing Poland to evacuate border checkpoints on the Ukrainian border. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this today.
“This is a real tragedy of our time, because this is not the first time I have been talking to one of our partners here in Warsaw and discussing Russia’s aggressive behavior and the problems it creates for Poland, only for the Russians to decide to prove it at that very moment. While we were just talking, Ukraine was attacked again near the Polish border, and once again we had to evacuate the border crossings in Hrubieszów and Dorohusk,” Donald Tusk said at a press conference with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev.
The operation of the border crossings was suspended for half an hour. Poland began evacuating checkpoints after Russia carried out strikes on Ukrainian border crossings with Moldova and Romania in recent weeks, followed later by a series of explosions near Ukrainian-Polish border crossings.
Poland has taken security measures. Border guard posts at the checkpoints have been reinforced and protective structures installed. Polish border crossings are also temporarily suspended during Russian attacks on Ukraine’s border regions.
