Poachers Chase a Moose Calf Across a Field and Train Dogs on It in Rechytsa District

In Rechytsa District, a group of men in a car chased a moose calf across a field and set dogs on it. Three administrative reports have been initiated, the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reports.

During a special operation called “Hunting,” State Inspectorate officers, together with forestry officials, were checking information about illegal hunting.

In one field, they spotted a car chasing a small, exhausted moose calf across the field, with dogs pursuing it. The fate of the calf’s mother is being investigated. The State Inspectorate does not rule out the possibility that she fell victim to poachers.

Only one person in the car held a hunting permit. State Inspectorate officers initiated two administrative proceedings: for violating hunting regulations and for hunting without the documents required by law. The materials concerning an administrative offence involving the improper use of firearms have been forwarded to the district police department.
