Payment cards issued by the Lithuanian online bank Paysera stopped working in Belarus on February 11. Users of specialised chats on border crossings reported the problems, Office Life wrote.
According to them, card transactions began to be declined, and Belarusian clients received notifications from the bank stating that transactions in Belarus “will be unsuccessful”.
“Paysera cards cannot be used in Belarus (…). These measures are part of Paysera’s compliance with international sanctions,” the bank said in a statement.
The only remaining available function is the ability to check balances via ATMs.
Until now, Paysera had remained the only Lithuanian bank whose cards could be used for payments in Belarus. Last year, a number of European neobanks closed accounts held by Belarusian citizens that had been opened on the basis of category D work visas.
